Taking The First Step In 2019

What do you do for work?  Do you sit at a desk all day?  Maybe you work manual labor, and are moving constantly for 10-12 hours a day.  Is your work from home? Does your work involve interventions and behavioral plans?  The point is a majority of everyone in this world today does SOMETHING that is both potentially harmful physically and mentally.  What do you do to ensure self-worth and longevity? Do you have a family that depends on you? What are you doing about it?

The hardest part for any individual to start an exercise routine is simply just walking in to a gym. What an intimidating place.  I mean, look around, you see nothing but sweaty people, hairy men, scantily clad women, and a whole bunch of machines that look like they are straight out of NASA.  Definitely not a place I would want to be in. I know for me, that was the hardest part of walking into a gym during high school sports. Looking back now though, it was 100% a confidence issue.  I had no idea what I was doing. I just thought that you walk into a gym and all of a sudden, you are strong. Until, I saw the cables, the carpet, lights, and old ass showers.

Gyms have become almost become a gathering place for those who have already taken that first step and are more than likely on there 1000th step into the gym.  Anyone can start, at any time. Don’t let the man or women who are on their 1000th step give you advice. Their workout plan maybe worked for them, but probably not for you.  Remember, you are walking into the gym for you, and no one else. You chose to take that first step for you and no one there can take that away. You are ready to make a change.  Put your headphones in and start on the treadmill, or bike, or rower. Pick the machines that look easiest to use. Do you know why? You already took that first step. You are already better than you were yesterday.  No one is asking that you jump into sprinting, or jumping, or some ludacris exercise. You are at the gym. Take that shit slow to learn how your body works. Know that the more you go in, the more confidence you build, and the healthier and happier you become.
